General Seed and Shipping FAQs
A) We ship only within Canada, no exceptions. We also do not know of any other places willing to ship anywhere but Canada at this time, either…sorry!
A)
According to the BBC, The 4/20 celebrations have taken off in the last few years, but their origins appear to lie in the escapades of a group of friends from San Rafael high school, northern California, in 1971. That autumn, the five teenagers came into possession of a hand-drawn map supposedly locating a marijuana crop at Point Reyes, north-west of San Francisco.
The friends – who called themselves the Waldos because they used to hang out by a wall – met after school, at 4:20pm, and drove off on their treasure hunt. They never found the plot. “We were smoking a lot of weed at the time,” says Dave Reddix or Waldo Dave, now a 59-year-old filmmaker. “Half the fun was just going looking for it.” The group began using the term 420. So did friends and acquaintances, who included – at a couple of steps removed – members of the Grateful Dead rock band. The term spread among the band’s fans, known as Deadheads.
Then in 1990 Steve Bloom, an editor at High Times, saw 420 explained on a Grateful Dead concert flyer. Staff on the magazine, long the leading publication on marijuana, started using it. (They held ideas meetings at 4.20pm – pot-fuelled, of course.) Twenty years later another publication, 420 Magazine, reported a claim by a rival group of San Rafael old boys that they had invented the term. But the Waldos, who have shown letters and other items to High Times, vigorously defend their version. “We’re the only ones with evidence,” says Steve Capper, or Waldo Steve.
Bloom says the term has served as a sort of semi-private code, and cannabis smokers tend to spot it everywhere – building numbers, prices, even clocks in the film Pulp Fiction. After the 420-mile marker on the Interstate-70 highway in Colorado was repeatedly pinched, officials recently replaced it with a 419.99-mile sign.

Q) How come you don't ship the Pax by Ploom?

Q) How do I pay with Interac E-transfer?
A) Interac E-transfer is a fast, easy, and secure way to send payment. It is available with most Canadian financial banking institutions, and is simple to set up. Once you set us up as a payee, we will always be there, so the next time you make a purchase with us, you wouldn’t have to re-enter our information. As soon as we receive your payment, we ship your package, and we will update your tracking information.
A) You are welcome to pay cash if you would like. Some of our customers like the privacy and discretion of this option. Q) Who wrote these strain descriptions?
A) All strain information and content is provided by the breeders themselves. Feel free to contact the breeders through their respective websites for additional information about the strains!
Q) How do I make an online purchase?
A) It is super easy to make a purchase online! All you have to do is fill up your shopping cart, proceed to checkout, choose a payment method, fill in your correct information, and confirm your order!
Q) Why do I have to provide you with my correct name and mailing address?
A) It is important that the person receiving the order provides their correct full name and mailing address for a couple reasons. First, if the address is incorrect, or if that person does not live at that address, or if that person does not exist, Canada Post knows, and automatically returns the package to us. Second, you have to prove your identity for Canada Post to hand over the package; this ensures no one steals your valuable souvenirs. A signature will be required, so we know you have your packages, safe and sound!
Q) What do you do with my personal information?
A) We destroy it. Repeat customers will attest to this, we always have to ask for your information on every purchase, as though you are a new customer. When we ship a package, we keep your contact information until the package is delivered. Once we have confirmation of delivery, we close your order in our system, and your information is destroyed at the same time. Your privacy and protection are top priority for us at all times. Our website does not store any information, it just relays to our email where we receive notification you would like a new package. We never sell or distribute any information on any of our customers to anyone at any time.
Q) What other fees are involved in purchasing seeds?
A) We do not charge our customers tax, so you are automatically getting a 13% discount with us over our competition! We do charge for shipping and handling. The cost of shipping is $15 anywhere in Canada, regardless of order size. This fee covers insurance and tracking on the package, and packing material.
Q) What if I want something but it is Out of Stock?
A) While we always try to maintain a heavy inventory of our feature companies, from time to time, things go out of stock. It isn’t the end of the world, but it may be a few weeks before we get any more seeds. Nature can do its work, and some seeds will come, but it takes time. Remember that some of these teams creating genetics are very small, and can only do so much at once. So what do we do for you when this happens? We are happy to suggest a suitable replacement that is similar to your choice, (just send an email to info@420kingston.com– we are pretty good about responding in a timely fashion). Otherwise we can put you on a special order list for that item, there are no time guarantees but you will be guaranteed your pack of choice when they arrrive.
A) We package our orders in a box or bubble mailer depending on size, and ship discretely from our LLC (2279641 Ontario Ltd.). We have never had any complaints about damages in shipping.
A) As long as we didn’t get too stoned, our inventory online is updated the moment we sell out (or the moment payment is received) for something. Our stock is always revolving, but we try to be fully supplied with strains from our Featured Companies. We always try to stock the standard 5,6, or 7 packs (feminized) and 10,11, or 12 packs (for regular). Sometimes those packs are not available, but 3 or 10 packs are. Rather than be completely out of stock on a strain, we try to at least have it in the less standard packs. The price always reflects the amount of seeds in the packs.
Q) When do you ship your packages?
A) We ship our packages on regular business days, Monday to Friday, before 5pm. Orders received outside of shipping hours or on holidays will be shipped the following business day. We do not want your order to be sitting in the post office overnight or over a weekend. Please try to order early in the week for same week delivery.
Q) How quickly will I receive my order?
A) A variety of factors can play into this, but here is the short answer—within Ontario, shipments are typically received in 1-3 business days from shipping, and within Canada, 3-5 business days from shipping. The long answer is this—we ship Canada Post, so assuming we are not shipping their busy holiday season, the time-frames previously mentioned should hold true. We aim to ship within as quickly as 24 hours, as long as payment is received, and your request is on hand and in stock (and not a special order item). Availability is also sometimes a factor, and while we aim to maintain stock on hand, from all our Feature Breeders at all times, sometimes things are out of stock. If something is out of stock (or marked as special order), we will inform you. An order may be delayed while you choose a suitable replacement in this case. No matter what, transparency, open communication, (and of course, discretion!), are our top priorities, and we want to make this as easy a process for you as possible!
Q) What can I do to ensure my order is received faster?
If you need a quick order, there are a couple things you can do to ensure you receive your order faster. First, check out our Quick Ship or Sale section for the best selection of available seeds that are ready to ship. Once you have made your selection, we just need to receive payment and your order will ship, so the ball is in your court. The quickest way for us to receive payment is through an Interac E-transfer. From the comfort of your own home, you can easily send us payment, which we receive as quickly as within the hour. Within Ontario, you could receive your order in 1-2 days, or Canada within 3-4. Money order or cash payment will cause a small delay, because it means you have to make an extra trip to the post office, then we have to wait for its delivery before we ship. For the quickest, most hassle-free method of payment, (even easier and can be more secure than a credit card!), we definitely suggest Interac E-transfer.
Q) What happens if I’m not home when my order comes? What if I use a P.O. Box?
A) If you aren’t home when your package arrives, Canada Post will leave a tag on your door/box. Take this tag, (as well as identification), to the postal outlet indicated to retrieve your package.
A) We are the ONLY authentic dealers of ROOR, Hi-Si and Illadelph in Kingston, and also sell other great brands like Gear, Red Eye, and much more for glass. We also carry Herbies Acrylic, for your more temporary needs. We are vaporizing experts (we even have a lounge upstairs) so if you aren’t sure what you are looking for, (or in some cases, looking at, or doing!), we are happy to help you narrow down your search. Of course, we always have a wonderful selection of seeds in stock from our feature companies. You really must to come in to see what we have in store; there is a new variety of merchandise arriving almost daily! Of course, the BIG reason everyone usually stops in, is Quincy! He is here with us daily, ready to help you find whatever you need, (or lean on you while you look at things, and you scratch his back!).
Q) What forms of payment do you accept in-store?
A) We are happy to accept cash and debit in the shop.
Q) Is that a horse? Or is that a dog?
A) Quincy is a Harlequin Great Dane, born October 8th, 2009. Quincy was such a responsible, good boy we decided to get him his own dog. His “little” brother Harold is also a Harlequin Great Dane born on April 19th, 2014! He had to be here in time for 4/20, obviously! They are both at the shop each day ready to greet customers (they may even try to pull your hand around the store if they sense you are a “dog person”) and no, they have never broken any glass!
